How to prevent slip and fall accidents

Slip and fall accidents are as much of a crisis for the business owners as the victims themselves. While it could lead to serious injuries to the employees, it could also lead to lawsuits. Slip and fall accidents are actually one of the most common injuries that happen in the workplace, but there are ways that can be done to prevent this type of accident, for everyone’s sake.

1. Look for places and corners in the workplace that are prone to accident. A lot of factors could lead to an accident. It could be because of slippery surfaces, or bad lighting resulting to bad visibility, uneven floors, or scattered cables or wires. Whatever the problem may be, make sure you address it as soon as possible. If you can’t, like in a case where a water pipe is broken and you’re waiting for a repairman, make sure you put out a warning sign so that people will know when there’s danger.

2. Maintain a regular checkup on the workplace, especially the flooring. Proper maintenance of the place could minimize the possibility of any accident.

3. Talk to the employees about being careful in the workplace. Produce a manual for them on how they could stay safe within the workplace and set guidelines on how they should set about working in the environment.

Proper maintenance of the workplace could be very helpful for everyone. But accidents are called accidents simply because they are unpredictable and you don’t know when it will happen. In such cases when an accident still happened, your records of how you maintained the workplace and the manual you provided for the employees will come in handy if you must face a lawsuit.
